This is what it looked like after the mirror was removed:

Previously, I posted about having the mirror removed by a professional glass company and what our plans were once the mirror was removed. Well, here’s an update to some of our progress with links to the specific products we’ve used…

As you may recall, the clients have a casual, rustic and country style. They wanted to keep the sculpted tulip and maroon rope accent tiles.
They wanted new flooring, new lighting and of course new paint. In order to help blend the new areas of the room with the existing areas, we decided to create a feature wall above the vanity. We matched the “red” from the rope accent tiles and painted that wall the same color “red”.

It looks fabulous! (even though my pictures don’t)
It took a lot of prep work, sanding and mud to repair the wall but, it was worth it. It’s the first wall you see when entering the room and it accentuates the red rope tile perfectly! What an impact it makes!
The color we used is Dinner Party AF-300 from Benjamin Moore.

Here’s how it looks with just one 40 watt light bulb (and a temporary contractor’s bulb): See how the bubbles in the glass shade are reflected on the wall and ceiling!

We also hung two new mirrors and a tall center wall cabinet on the feature wall.

Check out the slight distressed texture on the mirrors, not too much, not too little; just right.
We added crown molding to the top of the cabinet and painted the cabinet to match the existing vanity cabinets. Our plans are to distress the wall cabinet and existing vanity cabinets to mimic those beautiful mirrors (we’ll keep you posted on that).

The new sink faucets have been installed:

as well as new vinyl plank flooring. Our client choose “Choice Oak” but this flooring comes in many different colors and styles.

Vinyl plank was the way to go for this renovation. Its 100% water proof, easy to install and warm underfoot. What I like about it most is how realistic it looks and feels. It’s textured like real wood flooring, the planks are wide (8.7″) and it doesn’t have that “plastic sound when walking on it.
That’s all I have at this stage but, we’ll have more updates to share with you as this project progresses. For now, here are the links I promised for the products we used:
